The 2025 edition marked a milestone for Transierra Norte. For the first time, the race expanded beyond its traditional home in the Sierra Norte by spending three days in its familiar highland forests, then moving south for two days of fresh-cut trails in the mystical mountains of San José del Pacífico. The journey didn’t end in the pines, this year finished at the beach, a full north-to-south pilgrimage capped by salt, surf, and a true rider's celebration.
It started with a dream, an idea spoken out loud after a few beers at the local tiendita, in some small town after riding what would eventually become race stages. We called it, half-jokingly, Trans-Depósito, our own little “trans-race,” where the finish line was always the nearest store with cold beer. That inside joke, born of good rides and better friendships, would eventually evolve into TranSierra Norte.
A race, yes, but something more than a multi-day enduro race. Something wild and beautiful. Something that could capture the raw soul of these mountains, the pulse of the trails that wind through them like veins of memory.
When the video camera stops rolling, the real journey begins. While working as still photographer for the film CYCLES, a documentary exploring healing, loss, and riding alongside Lorena Dromundo and Micayla Gatto, I found myself drawn to the quiet space in between takes. The early morning calls, the roadtrip dust on the way to Real de Catorce, and the silent moments by the fire. This isn't just a behind-the-scenes gallery; it's a raw, black-and-white field journal of the road.

Welcome to the Trans Sierra Norte Enduro experience!
It’s been long since this idea first originated, many epic trips, lots of exploring and many more beers and mezcal that made this experience possible. Oaxaca has long been one of Mexico’s main mountain biking destinations, and it was only a matter of time that this adventure matured into this first edition of a multi-day adventure race.
Once upon a time, a group of Mexicans had a dream, a dream of making a race right in the middle of the Day of the Dead in Oaxaca, Mexico.
The dream of having people from around the world, from all riding backgrounds and talent to experience the trails in Oaxaca and the unique festivity that "Día de Los Muertos" is!
That dream came true again and for this third edition, and Transierra Norte put on a “Race Party” that will be remembered forever!
It is mind-blowing to think how fast time can pass by. Every second that passes, we get closer to the end, but if we make these seconds count, memories can last forever. A year ago, we celebrated the fifth anniversary of TranSierra Norte in Oaxaca, Mexico, a celebration of life and death, uplifted by Mexican culture and the traditional territories of the Zapotec. This magical land offers unique terrain for adventure racing and cultural immersion.
