When you're hanging around Oaxaca, it doesn’t take much convincing to gear up for a quick ride. As the afternoon heat started to settle, we met up with the Transierra Norte guides for a sunset session through the local lines in San Pablo Etla.
Oaxaca’s trails are legendary for a reason: steep, loamy, tight through the trees, and bathed in that thick, golden hour sunlight that makes every turn look like a movie scene.
Between dropping into deep natural ruts, kicking up dust, and catching the last sunrays filtering through the canopy, we put some new eyewear to the test. The guys at Zirkel hooked up the event crew with some fresh shades, perfect for handling the sharp contrast between blinding mountain glares and dark forest singletrack.
We timed the ride just right to reach La Mesita lookout right as the sun began to dip behind the mountains. We popped open a few cold beers, raised a toast to a day well spent, and watched the sky turn deep orange over the valley.
Nothing beats good dirt, sharp optics, sunset views, and a post-ride cheers with the locals.
